Ribera and AVS Salud reach an agreement to incorporate the Covadonga Hospital into the health group on July 1

    • With this operation, Ribera enters Asturian Health with the desire to extend its responsible health model to create valuable medicine, betting on its professionals and collaborating with the regional Government.
    • The hospital has 5.200 square meters, three operating rooms, 35 rooms, a 24-hour emergency room and a polyclinic in the center of the city.

The health group Ribera has reached an agreement with AVS Salud to incorporate the Covadonga Hospital (Gijón) into the network of centers it already manages in five regions of Spain on July 1. With this operation, Ribera enters the Asturian Healthcare with the desire to help Covadonga Hospital grow, counting on its professionals, contributing its vision as the second Spanish hospital group, with presence in five countries and the experience of more than 25 years in the public and private health management.

This agreement confirms the willingness of the Ribera healthcare group to continue with its expansion and growth process in Spain and Europe. With the entry into Asturias by the Covadonga Hospital, there will be six Spanish regions in which Ribera will have a presence (Valencian Community, Murcia, Madrid, Galicia, Extremadura and Asturias), with a notable mention to the northwest area, since the health group has three hospitals and several polyclinics in Galicia. After the signing of the operation and the integration process, the Covadonga Hospital will benefit from the synergies with the other twelve hospitals and 58 polyclinics of the group. Ribera is also present in Portugal, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Peru and has consulting agreements in the Middle East, to collaborate in the design of the healthcare modernization plan in countries such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The CEO of the Ribera health group, Dr. Elisa Tarazona, has highlighted “the desire to extend our responsible health model, which is committed to prevention, humanization, personalized care and technology, to create valuable medicine.” “With the Covadonga Hospital, we have the objective of continuing to grow hand in hand with professionals, based on the good work done, to expand services to citizens and offer local medicine,” she assured.

Dr. Jesús Kocina, president of AVS Salud, will continue collaborating in the new project with the Ribera health group, contributing his knowledge and experience in his dual role as a doctor and businessman from Gijón. “At AVS Salud we are very satisfied with this new alliance with Ribera for this common project, which unites our knowledge of the health needs in Asturias and its particularities, with the experience and network of one of the largest health groups in Spain. We are sure that this combination will improve the services we offer in Asturias.”
