    Ribera Salud is committed to improving the Guardamar del Segura Health Center with an investment of more than one million euros

    Eva Baró, Manager of the Torrevieja Health Department, has visited the Town Hall of Guardamar del Segura to present in person, and first hand, the Investment Plan 2021-2026 de Ribera Salud, a project that includes the extension and improvement of the health center of the municipality.

    With an estimated investment of one million euros, Ribera Salud undertakes to undertake improvements to meet the growing needs of the population that the center serves, especially in the summer period. The investment includes the expansion and reform of the primary care center in its emergency area. In addition, it is planned to undertake conditioning tasks at the main entrance, favoring access to facilities.

    The project is included in the Investment Plan 2021-2026 of the Torrevieja Health Department, which plans to invest a total of 23.4 million euros in infrastructure and equipment over the next few years. A strong investment that will be reflected in primary care centers, such as the one in Guardamar del Segura, and that will make it possible to have state-of-the-art public sanitary facilities at the service of citizens.

    Eva Baró, Manager of the Health Department, has listened carefully to the requests that José Luis Sáez, Mayor of Guardamar del Segura, has presented to her, showing his real commitment to improving health care in the municipality in the coming years. “The fact of being here today, speaking directly with the highest representative of the residents of Guardamar is a sign of real commitment that the improvements in infrastructure and expansion of the health center will be carried out during the period 2021-2026. We have always worked by putting the patient at the center of all our decisions and this will continue to be the case.", Has expressed. 

    For his part, José Luis Sáez, Mayor of the municipality, thanked the willingness of Ribera Health and its commitment to the neighbours: “I value this meeting very positively because whenever information is offered about the department and about the investments that are going to take place in the municipality, it is very good news. We are also aware of the situation we are experiencing right now, not only due to the pandemic, but also due to the Ribera Salud contract and it is a time of uncertainty that we hope will be resolved in the coming months.".

    The Investment Plan supposes the additional investment of 40 million euros throughout the department during the period 2021-2026, which would make the Torrevieja health department the one with the highest investment per inhabitant in the entire Valencian Community. “We have work ahead of us, enthusiasm and desire to face the challenges of the future. We want to revolutionize healthcare by making commitments to patients, their families and also to professionals".

    A model endorsed by the Sindicatura

    During the thirteen years of existence, the health department has managed to maintain excellent care and management indicators. So much so that, in the latest report commissioned by the Ministry of Health to the Audit Office, the body in charge of controlling the accounts of public services, it concluded that the University Hospital of Torrevieja is more efficient and has better health results than the other public hospitals in the Valencian Community.

    According to the report of the Receivership, Torrevieja Health it is 30% more efficient than the rest of the public hospitals in the Valencian Community, which translates into savings of 45 million euros per year for the citizen's pocket.

    The document highlights that this economic efficiency is linked to the achievement of health objectives established in the management agreements. It highlights the broad portfolio of hospital services, a total of 67 specialties to offer our patients complete healthcare with super-specialized services not available in surrounding centers, which, together with proper management, makes it one of the hospitals that fewer patients are referred to other centers.

    The report states that the degree of satisfaction of Torrevieja Salud patients, evaluated by the Ministry itself, exceeds the Community average. 85% of the patients treated, both in the hospital and in the primary care centers, state that they are satisfied or very satisfied with the health care received.

    Close relationship with municipal mayors

    The Torrevieja Health Department has maintained a constant informative relationship in recent months with the municipal mayors of the health area. José Luis Sáez, Mayor of the municipality, recently acknowledged in an interview that in the context of the Covid situation, “The information with the Torrevieja Health Department has been very recurrent since in other municipalities such as Orihuela there has not been the possibility of providing information to the Mayors and citizens of their demarcation. The relationship is positive with everything we have experienced in the coronavirus; with weekly information, open information always showing its face. This is to be appreciated because we have been able to transmit it to the public and we have been able to have that in real time each and every one of the incidents that have been occurring to us”.
