VALENCIA, JULY 7, 2020. Ribera Health has started testing a new mobile application, designed by serenmind, to carry out self-guided psychological therapy to the patients of the health centers managed by this health group. Serenmind is one of the two startups sponsored by Ribera Salud, within the Corporate agreement with Lanzadera, to promote entrepreneurial projects for innovation in Health and the improvement of citizen care.
Serena the chatbot or virtual assistant of this application, asks a few brief questions to the user when installing the app to customize the “itinerary” of the therapy. Next, the patient "takes control" and accesses the contents programmed according to their needs and their evolution in the personalized treatment, which will lead them both to audio, video or psycho-educational text sessions by modules, as well as to relaxation exercises. and breathing or meditation techniques to apply in the sessions.
This application will not only provide the tools to help patients, it will also evaluate their results. The patients themselves will be able to check their progress in the itinerary, if they have attended the recommended minutes of therapy, they have fulfilled the relaxation time, including the level reached of the different skills that are enhanced, such as meditation. With all this, the application provides the patient with "emotional tracking", that is, a graph that shows the evolution of her state of mind and motivates her to take on new challenges and take a step forward in her therapy.
In addition to the patient himself, the follow-up and evolution in the therapy is also done by the health professional (the primary care physician or nursing staff) from a website that has been enabled to view the progress of their patients.
FutuRS, Ribera Salud's technology subsidiary, has led the implementation of this project, which aims to assess the feasibility of self-guided psychological therapy programs for primary care patients. In this initial phase, 160 voluntary patients will participate.
