Ribera Salud shields its hospitals for COVID19: take the temperature, control hand hygiene and distribute masks at the entrances

    • Access to the centers must be justified, the safety distance is marked in the waiting rooms and counters and crowds or companions are not allowed except in childbirth, minors, people with functional diversity and vulnerable people
    • The objective is to help prevent infections and guarantee the safety of professionals and patients during the de-escalation phase of confinement and the progressive return to normality in healthcare activity.

All Ribera Salud hospitals have shielded themselves, as far as possible, against COVID19. As of today, the health group has implemented extraordinary measures for access to all its centers and for internal mobility, including the use of elevators and services, in order to guarantee the highest level of safety for professionals and patients.

Thus, at the entrances to the university hospitals of Torrevieja, Vinalopo y Torrejon, povisa hospital (Vigo) and the Santa Justa Hospital (Villanueva de la Serena) the temperature will be taken in a general way to all those who access the center to guarantee that it is less than 37.5º. Hand hygiene will also be controlled, with the mandatory use of hydroalcoholic gel and masks will be distributed to those who do not wear one, since their use is mandatory inside health centers.

In addition, the visit to the hospitals must be duly justified and crowds are not allowed in any space or accompanying persons, except in the case of women who are going to give birth, minors, people with functional diversity and other exceptional cases such as people vulnerable. It is mandatory to respect the interpersonal safety distance of 1,5 meters at all times, both in waiting rooms and at counters or consultations. In most of these spaces, the safety distances have been marked with vinyl, including the seats that can be used in the waiting rooms, to facilitate the separation between patients, and a billboard has been distributed to inform about the rules for the use of elevators and toilets.

The objective of all these measures is to try to prevent infections and guarantee the safety of professionals and patients during the de-escalation phase of confinement and the progressive return to normality of care activity.

In the case of professionals, Ribera Salud has extended the use of pajamas and gowns to non-health personnel, including outsourced services, and has reinforced the lingerie circuit to guarantee the daily change and cleaning of these uniforms with the maximum guarantees, by specialized services, never at home.

Furthermore, Massive tests began yesterday for all health professionals and also for the staff of outsourced services (cleaning, security, cooking and maintenance, among others). More than 7.000 diagnostic tests will be carried out. These are serological tests for the detection of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, popularly known as "rapid tests" and are one of the measures agreed by Ribera Salud, in all its centers, as a control mechanism and knowledge of the prevalence of this sickness.

From this health group, everyone's responsibility is appealed to prevent new infections. "At the moment in which we find ourselves, it is essential to adopt extraordinary measures and that we all comply with them, to continue as before, avoiding contagion in our centers." Not surprisingly, the Ribera Salud hospitals are among the health centers with the fewest number of professionals infected during this global health crisis.
