The health group Ribera This year, the university offers a total of 61 places for Medical Residents (MIR) and 10 places for Internal Nursing Residents (EIR) in its university hospitals. Torrejon (Madrid) and Vinalopo (Elche), as well as in the hospital Ribera Povisa (Vigo). Specifically, Torrejón offers 23 MIR and 5 EIR places; Ribera Povisa 20 MIR places; and Vinalopó 18 MIR and 5 EIR places, the allocation of which will begin on April 21 for Nursing and April 25 for Medicine, according to the dates planned by the Ministry of Health. According to these same sources, the new residents will be incorporated in the first half of June.
This year, the Vinalopó University Hospital offers 11 medical specialties (Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General and Community Medicine, Rehabilitation, Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Traumatology, Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, Radiodiagnosis, and Cardiology) and three nursing specialties (Pediatrics 1, Gynecology 2, and General Medicine 2). The largest number of resident internship positions, eight in total, are for General Medicine, while the remaining services have one position available. At the Torrejón University Hospital, medical residents will be able to choose between the services of Internal Medicine (2), Intensive Medicine (1), Pediatrics (2), Gynecology and Obstetrics (2), Traumatology (1), General Surgery (1), Radiodiagnosis (1), Anesthesiology and Resuscitation (1), Dermatology (1) and Family and Community Medicine (8), Ophthalmology (1), Otorhinolaryngology (1) and Neurology (1). In terms of Nursing, the centre's offering is divided into Midwives (2), Pediatrics (1) and Family and Community Medicine (2).
As regards the Ribera Povisa Hospital, the largest number of MIR places is for residents in General and Community Medicine (12). Two places are offered in the Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, Internal Medicine and Radiodiagnosis services, and one place each in General and Digestive System Surgery and Anesthesiology and Resuscitation.
Advantages of MIR and EIR training in Ribera group hospitals
Those responsible for teaching at Ribera Hospitals emphasize the advantages of conducting training within a healthcare group with 16 hospitals, more than 60 polyclinics, and 14 primary care centers (the latter in the Vinalopó Department) and a network of accredited training centers. This infrastructure, along with the growing activity of the Ribera Health Foundation in Research and the significant push for clinical trials and publications, offers residents advantages and tools to participate in various projects, as well as in core training areas. All of this is done while respecting the different training paths emanating from the national committees for each specialty. Furthermore, regarding future employability, the Ribera Healthcare Group, which continues to grow in Spain, Portugal, and Central Europe and already has more than 9.000 professionals, is constantly seeking talent.
Another of the distinguishing features of Ribera Hospitals for future resident residents and interns, according to those responsible for teaching, is personalized training. "We facilitate and encourage their participation, from the beginning, in events and teaching activities, as well as in clinical practice," they state. This is usually easier at these centers because there are fewer residents and they have greater opportunities to interact and learn with other professionals and patients.
