- Recognizes the initiative of the healthcare group as one of the three best practices in Digitization in the category of "Large company"
- The projects have been carried out in the university hospitals of Torrejón and Vinalopó (Elche), managed by Ribera
El Ribera healthcare group has been a finalist in the ABB Ability Awards for the pilot projects developed with a virtual caregiver for patients with Covid and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) at the University Hospital of Torrejon.
Ribera's nomination as one of the three finalists in the "Large Company" category, along with Coca Cola Spain y vidrala, recognizes the commitment of the health group with good practices and initiatives for digitization, in this case of the health sector. The project of the health group valued in this award is virtual care that allows monitoring of patients who are already at home but need periodic clinical monitoring. In collaboration with the startup tucuvi, Ribera has launched two pilot projects for the monitoring of Covid or COPD patients thanks to the involvement and work of the Home Hospitalization Unit and the Pneumology Service of the Torrejón University Hospital, directed by doctors Manuel Mirón and Maria Soledad Alonso Viteri.
Lola is a virtual caregiver based on artificial intelligence (AI) and voice technology that makes phone calls to patients automatically and through NLP (natural language processing) strategies. The monitoring protocols are established by the clinical team and are adapted to the needs of each patient, including questions about physical and emotional symptoms and other types of necessary parameters. This allows professionals, most of the Home Hospitalization units but also from the Pneumology service, to obtain data on the health status of patients while they are at home and without increasing the care burden. The good results obtained have turned these pilot projects into success stories that the healthcare group shares through its technology subsidiary futuRS.
The awards, promoted in 2018 by ABB, an electrical engineering and automation company, and the Club of Excellence in Sustainability, a business association that works for sustainable growth, is committed to making visible and recognizing projects based on the digital transformation of processes or management systems, as well as those that promote talent in digital skills to train people towards the new labor paradigm marked by digitization. All this with the aim of highlighting all those initiatives that, thanks to the application of technology, have been able to improve the efficiency, competitiveness and sustainability of companies or workplaces in our country.
