The Ribera Assistens Medical Center inaugurated its new surgical suite today, making it the first major outpatient surgery center in Galicia. The event was attended by a number of dignitaries, including the Regional Minister of Health, His Excellency Mr. Antonio Gómez Caamaño; the Galician Regional Government delegate in A Coruña, Ms. Belén do Campo Piñeiro; the President of the Medical Association, Dr. Luciano Vidan Martínez; the President of the Nursing Association, Mr. Avelino Castro; and the Manager of CHUAC, Dr. Luis Verde Remeseiro.
The new surgical area received authorization for operation from the Regional Government's Health Department in August and began operating on September 2 with peripheral nerve surgery performed by Dr. Gayoso and Dr. Pinal, the center's traumatologist and plastic surgeon.
The center's renovations involved an investment of 2,6 million euros. It features two state-of-the-art operating rooms and a seven-station Post-Anesthesia Resuscitation Unit (PACU), designed to ensure maximum patient safety and comfort.

At the event, Mr. Julio Díaz Touza, the center's manager, emphasized that "with the opening of these operating rooms, Ribera Assistens reinforces its commitment to patient health, offering surgical treatments in our own facilities, with virtually no waiting time and the peace of mind of having the best professionals."
For his part, Ribera Group CEO Pablo Gallart Gaspar stated that "this surgical unit is not only a milestone for Ribera Assistens, but also for Galicia, a strategic region where we aim to continue guaranteeing the highest quality, agility, and professionalism in healthcare."
The Regional Minister of Health, His Excellency Mr. Antonio Gómez Caamaño, emphasized that “Major outpatient surgery is the future of healthcare, as it is an efficient, accessible, and innovative model. The state-of-the-art facilities and operating rooms we have just visited are perfectly suited to this model.” He added, “Technology is very important, but even more important is what healthcare professionals do with it. Congratulations to the entire team at Ribera Assistens.”
With more than 37 medical specialties and a team of 110 professionals, Ribera Assistens thus strengthens its position as a benchmark in comprehensive, outpatient and surgical care in A Coruña and its area of influence.
