    • It has two cabins adapted for manual therapy, an ultrasound machine, a space for therapeutic exercise and another for mechanotherapy, with parallel bars, stairs, a ramp, shoulder pulleys, an arthromotor and an exercise bike, analgesic electrotherapy and muscle stimulation.

Almendralejo, March 23, 2022 - Ribera Almendralejo Hospital, managed by the Ribera healthcare group, opens a Physiotherapy Service with a complete offer of treatments for musculoskeletal problems as well as neurological and respiratory rehabilitation.

The physiotherapist responsible for the new consultation, Victor José Casablanca, assures that the most common patients are those with back and shoulder problems, as well as contractures, but the new service is also specialized in recovering from sports injuries, such as sprains, muscle tears or bruises, recurring in the lower limbs. Regarding back problems, he explains that "they are usually related to poor postural hygiene, adults at work and adolescents while studying." He also addresses, as he explains, tendinopathies, bursitis or capsulitis, "of great relevance in patients with shoulder problems", as he adds.

The Ribera Almendralejo Hospital Physiotherapy Service is also specialized in rehabilitation after surgery of any kind, but especially, as the specialist explains, "after a cruciate ligament tear, a meniscectomy, or after the placement of a prosthesis, due to an arthritic process”.

In Ribera Almendralejo, specialized physiotherapy is also provided for patients who need intensive therapy after a stroke or if they suffer from facial paralysis, muscular dystrophies or peripheral and central neuropathic diseases. It is the neurological rehabilitation, key so that these patients can recover the maximum possible of their capacities and autonomy.

In addition, Víctor Casablanca is a specialist in respiratory physiotherapy, ideal for patients with bronchial and lung problems, chronic diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), or who have had Covid and have not recovered well. “It is a differential offer of our service, which is not common in most Physiotherapy consultations”, he explains.

The Physiotherapy Service of the Ribera Almendralejo Hospital has two separate stretchers in cabins where the physiotherapist can perform the corresponding and appropriate manual therapy for each patient, in order to improve joint biomechanics with muscular and articulatory techniques and manipulations, as well as a device ultrasound which, according to the specialist, "is widely used in ligamentous and tendon injuries such as sprains, tendonitis or fibrosis". It also has a space set up for therapeutic exercise "aimed at re-educating movement and the correct functioning of our musculoskeletal system", according to him, and electrotherapy and muscular electrostimulation devices, whose function is analgesic and excitomotor, respectively. The Physiotherapy Service also includes a space reserved for mechanotherapy, with parallel bars, stairs, a ramp, shoulder pulleys, an arthromotor and an exercise bike "to re-educate the patient's gait, improve joint mobility and strengthen the musculoskeletal system".
