    The health group Ribera launches a new model for the prevention of infection in the surgical site. And it is that surgical site infection (SSI) is the main complication of surgery and responsible for thousands of deaths a year, but they are also widely preventable events (between 30 and 60%) if they are applied rigorously all preventive measures that are currently known. 

    The Ribera group, under its quality and safety policy, intends with this new prevention model to reduce the proportion of patients suffering from infections of this type, putting into practice the packages (bundles) of preventive measures best endorsed by current scientific evidence.

    This initiative follows the line set by the national IQZ project, which since 2012 has been promoting and coordinating, at the Spanish state level, effective programs for the prevention and control of surgical infections, developing training and innovation in this area and fostering a culture of safety in surgical services.

    All of this, with the solid documentation developed by the Surgery Infection Observatory, defining a group of preventive measures agreed upon by 17 Scientific Societies and applicable to all types of surgery, being the first time in Spain that a document with this degree of accuracy is issued. consensus.

    These conferences, which will be held next Tuesday, June 28, will be attended by top-level speakers and are intended to be a space for reflection and participation that facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experience of professionals with a long history and recognition within the field. surgical.
