Ribera Povisa presents its humanization actions at the 12th meeting of the Patients' Council

    • The leading association in this edition was ONCE, which offered a workshop to raise awareness about visual impairment.

The twelfth meeting of the Council of Patients of Ribera Povisa The main themes were the presentation of the humanisation actions that are being carried out at the centre and an active ONCE workshop to raise awareness about the challenges faced by people with visual disabilities when they arrive at a hospital.

The nurse supervisor of the day hospital, dialysis and pharmacy, Paula Martín, has presented to the attendees some of the main novelties of the hospital in terms of humanization such as the adaptation of the signage in the Emergency area and the polyclinics to the ColorAdd code which improves accessibility for colour-blind people; or the collaboration with the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo to hold micro-concerts in different units of the hospital.

In addition, other infrastructure improvements have been reported, such as the renovation of the C elevators, and the dates of upcoming workshops for caregivers offered to family members of patients, as well as the topics of the upcoming “Healthy Breakfasts,” weekly information sessions in which recommendations on certain pathologies are shared.

ONCE was the association that hosted this session and, in addition to presenting its agenda of upcoming activities, it held a practical workshop to raise awareness about visual impairment. Its proposal was for attendees to literally put themselves in the shoes of a person with vision problems to face first-hand the challenges of mobility and accessibility in the hospital environment.

18 associations from the metropolitan area of Vigo have participated in this twelfth meeting of the Patients' Council, a body that was launched in May 2022, with the aim of creating a space for dialogue between patients and healthcare professionals on the current issues that concern them most.
