    • The leading association of this edition has been the AECC, which has shared its
      agenda of activities.

The eleventh meeting of the Ribera Povisa Patients' Council, the Ribera healthcare group's hospital in Vigo, focused on the presentation of new medical additions to the healthcare centre's staff and a workshop on pelvic floor care.

The medical director, Dr Emma Iglesias, who took up the post in August, introduced herself to the associations that attended the meeting and answered all their questions.

Dr. Iglesias took advantage of the session to provide an update to the patient representatives on the new medical additions to the staff of the health center. In recent months, the hospital has expanded the rheumatology units, with two new specialists; allergology, neurology and pediatric surgery. In addition, the Emergency service has been strengthened, and new doctors have been incorporated into the areas of cardiology and gynecology.

17 associations from the metropolitan area of Vigo have participated in this eleventh meeting of the Patients' Council, a body that was launched in May 2022, with the aim of creating a space for dialogue between patients and healthcare professionals on the current issues that concern them most.

The session included a workshop on the importance of pelvic floor care given by Natividad Pérez, from the hospital's Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation service. The physiotherapist explained in a practical way a pattern of exercises for the care and strengthening of the perineum, with the aim of improving postural stability, sphincter control, and preventing the appearance of chronic pain, both in women and men.

The Spanish Association Against Cancer was the protagonist of this session and presented its agenda of activities to raise awareness about the disease, as well as the actions to support research and patients and their families, which they carry out in the Vigo area.

In addition, the Vida Digna association has launched its Christmas campaign, with which it will collect toys to distribute to children in need.
