The Ribera Povisa hospital expands its training offer by incorporating resident internal nurses in the specialty of family and community nursing

    • For the first time, Ribera Povisa incorporates into training graduates who have passed the resident internal nurse (EIR) exam.
    • The hospital is also the only Galician private center that offers MIR training for resident doctors and also offers internships to TCAES and nursing graduates.

The Ribera Povisa hospital expands its training offer by incorporating second-year (R2) resident internal nurses (RXNUMX) who, after having passed the EIR exam, will complete their practical preparation in the family and community area by doing their rotation with the case manager of complex chronic patient.

The EIR (Resident Intern Nurse) exam is a competition through which nursing graduates can access a specialist training position in the Spanish national health system, choosing between the following nursing specialties: Gynecology and Obstetrics ( Midwife), Pediatrics, Family and Community, Mental Health and Work. The EIRs carry out their specialized training period for two years in accredited centers belonging to the national health system.

Between 2024 and 2025, a total of 14 resident internal nurses will join the training at Ribera Povisa who will delve into the functions of the case manager for complex chronic patients with total immersion in the unit's programs and protocols, applying the criteria to classify this type of patient and knowing the resources available for care.

“The Ribera Povisa hospital reinforces its commitment to teaching and training talent within the health sector with the incorporation of these professionals who will continue learning with the support of the experience of our staff. It is a determined commitment to the future and to continue raising the quality of care,” says Cristina Serra, director of nursing at Ribera Povisa.

In future calls, the training offer will be expanded to first-year internal nurses (R1).

The Ribera Povisa hospital has collaboration agreements with the three Galician universities and annually offers more than 275 internship and training places to health professionals. In 2023, the center received 140 students from the Ribera-Povisa University School of Nursing, 110 students from the Ribera-Povisa FP CPR (45 TCAE, 25 Higher Technician in Pathological Anatomy, 40 Imaging for Diagnostics and Radiotherapy) , 2 Nursing graduates from the University of A Coruña and 8 from the Red Cross University of Chaves (Portugal).

In addition, the Ribera Povisa hospital has 21 accredited places for Resident Internal Physicians (MIR) in six specialties: Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, General Surgery, Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, Family and Community Medicine, Radiodiagnosis and Internal Medicine.
