VALÈNCIA, JUNE 25, 2020. Hospitals in Ribera Health have begun to remotely monitor their heart failure patients with medical devices connected to a smart platform. This is a pilot project, initiated in the Torrevieja University Hospital, and developed by HumanITcare, one of the two startups sponsored by the healthcare group within the Corporate agreement with Lanzadera. The objective is to carry out a study, initially based on the monitoring of patients with heart failure at the Hospital de Torrevieja, to complete the development of a platform that allows remote monitoring of this disease in all patients in the hospitals of the group.
Currently lPatients already have the necessary medical devices (activity bracelets, blood pressure monitors, smart scales and pulsoximeters) qthat allow you to record your daily physical activity and remotely control any type of anomaly, through the intelligent platform of HumanITcare (which patients can see in App format and doctors in platform format). Doctors can thus carry out part of their work remotely, calling the patient to modify the medication, making a televisit from the platform itself or indicating, when necessary, the visit to their doctor.
Already in this test phase, health professionals will receive the alerts that are generated when any measurement indicates an alteration in the heart rate, saturation or blood pressure of the patient who, in turn, undertakes to carry out self-control. the parameters that are indicated with the corresponding frequency.
automatic measurement of all these values are recorded on the platform, which will allow the creation of predictive models to generalize the use of these devices for the remote control of patients with heart failure, as a complement to regular visits to your cardiologist.
"At Ribera Salud we are committed to supporting and promoting new digital services that allow us to improve care for our patients and facilitate the follow-up that our professionals do on them," they say.
"With this pilot, we want to demonstrate the value of telemonitoring in chronic patients, both for patients, giving them 24/7 care, and for doctors, facilitating access to follow-up," says the CEO of HumanITcare, Nuria Pastor.
In addition to monitoring with the devices, patients will have at their disposal questionnaires on these devices about their quality of life and self-care, and professionals will be able to view the answers in real time. In this way, the health personnel complete the information sent by the devices with the information provided online by the patient himself, improving his follow-up and quickly tackling possible decompensations.
The objective is to carry out a study that will analyze the effectiveness of the use of the HumanITcare platform in monitoring this pathology., as well as usability and satisfaction on the part of patients. It is expected that all the patients of the Torrevieja health department who participate in this study will receive a manual and a telephone number for assistance and technical support, to help them resolve any incident or doubt that may arise during this period.
