- The average delay in the University Hospital of Torrevieja is 42 days
- The average delay at the Vinalopó University Hospital is 46 days
- The Departments of Vinalopó and Torrevieja improve, once again, the data presented by the Conselleria de Sanitat, since the figures of the sanitary concessions are included in the global calculation.
- All these data are public and official, they come from the information systems of the Conselleria de Sanitat, as well as the calculation criteria, which are the same.
The average waiting time for an intervention in the University Hospitals of Torrevieja y Vinalopo, managed by the Ribera healthcare group, is 42 and 46 days respectively, a figure considerably lower than the average for public hospitals in the Valencian Community, located at 127 days, according to the latest data published in April by the Ministry of Health, and according to the same criteria calculation of this department.
The Ministry has re-published the delay data for each of the Health Departments separately, in which those managed by the Ribera group provide, once again, the best results, that is, the lowest delay data in the Community, helping to make this objective of the Valencian government to reduce waiting times possible. And it is that, it is precisely the waiting times of the concessions that lower the average in the overall calculation of the Community and allow to improve the results in terms of accessibility to the health system.
The sanitary concessions, as stated in the Audit report of the Generalitat Audit Office, are characterized by having fewer waiting lists than direct management centers, and with fewer referrals to other centers. This is the case in the Departments of Torrevieja and Vinalopó, and it was in La Ribera, which has gone from 57 days in March 2018 under the management of the Ribera group, to the current 107 days after several years of direct management of the Ministry.
These are official data that reflect an average time, expressed in days, among all patients awaiting intervention. This calculation includes all surgical specialties, including those of reference. In the case of the Ribera Salud hospitals, it should be remembered that Torrevieja and Vinalopó have a complete portfolio of services with super specialties that avoid referrals of patients with complex cases to other hospitals further away. This is the case of cardiac surgery, vascular, thoracic or maxillofacial surgery.
These data are provided to the Ministry by the hospitals on a monthly basis. In the case of centers with a concession model, there is also the figure of the Commissioner and his work team, representatives of the Ministry in the hospital itself, whose function is to ensure the proper functioning of the center.
It should be remembered that the calculations of the surgical delay data for the 24 health departments are carried out from the central services of the Department of Universal Health and are obtained from the Alumbra computer program, which calculates delays, waiting times and other activity data.
