    The University of Vigo and the Ribera Group renew their affiliation agreement and launch a chair in innovation and health

    • The new Ribera-Povisa Chair in Innovation and Health will create an academic-professional development program that helps the School's teachers achieve a doctorate degree by incorporating them into the UVigo doctoral programs.
    • In the case of the secondment agreement, it is a renewal of the existing one, signed in June 1991, due to the change in ownership of Povisa once it was acquired by the Ribera Salud Group, and its adaptation to the new laws. 

    Vigo, February 05, 2024.- The University of Vigo and the Ribera health group have just signed two collaboration agreements with which to renew and promote the already close collaboration between both entities. This is the renewal of the affiliation agreement to said University of the Ribera-Povisa University School of Nursing and the creation of a Chair in Innovation and Health.

    The agreements will be presented institutionally soon, but both entities advance that it is a “strategic” collaboration that will allow the launch of multiple joint initiatives, both in the field of teaching and research.

    In the case of the secondment agreement, it is a renewal of the existing one, signed in June 1991, due to the change in ownership of Povisa once it was acquired by the Ribera Salud Group, and its adaptation to the new laws. Along these lines, the vice-rector for Degrees and Teaching Innovation, Alfonso Lago, highlights that the renewed document establishes the access procedure for the staff of the Ribera-Povisa University School of Nursing to the different training programs taught at the University of Vigo. , “among them, the courses for new teaching staff, mandatory for the new positions of doctoral assistant teaching staff.” Likewise, support and collaboration for the development of the research activity of the school's teaching staff is also included, "which will allow the integration of these teachers in the research groups of the UVigo and in the collaborative research projects between both entities of in accordance with current legislation,” emphasizes the vice-rector.

At the Ribera group, we have a firm commitment to teaching and continuous training of healthcare workers, and this agreement opens new possibilities, both academic and work-related, to our professionals.     Joint research and innovation projects

    The new Ribera-Povisa Chair in Innovation and Health will bring with it the creation of an academic-professional development program that, among other issues, helps the School's teachers achieve the doctorate degree through their incorporation into the doctoral programs from UVigo. At the same time, we will also try to develop programs and activities aimed at enhancing knowledge and the use of new techniques and tools with which to equip students and professionals in the field. Ribera-Povisa University School of Nursing of cutting-edge resources.

    In addition, it is expected that the Ribera-Povisa Chair will also host possible innovation projects and lines of research in the health field related to the different doctoral programs.

    “Precisely, one of the main objectives of the chair is for Nursing teachers to obtain a doctorate degree in the future and, therefore, be able to participate in all the research activities of the University, integrate into groups that already exist or create new ones, enjoy research, mobility, doctoral grants, etc.,” explains the vice-rector for Research, Transfer and Innovation, Belén Rubio, who adds that with this chair some project actions, mobility, etc. are initiated. . to achieve this goal “as soon as possible.”
