The Joint Commission International (JCI) accredits five primary care centers and a clinic in the Valencian Community

    • These are the Patricio Pérez health center, belonging to the Torrevieja Health Department, and the Toscar, Carrús, Pla-Vinalopó and Doctor Sapena centers, with their auxiliary center Doctor Alberto García, from the Vinalopó Health Department.
    • The Joint Commission International recognizes that accredited centers meet the most demanding levels of quality, according to standards derived from international scientific consensus.

Having safe facilities, a good emergency protocol, maintaining the privacy of patients and providing personalized and effective care are some of the actions that have made it possible for the Patricio Pérez health center, belonging to the Torrevieja Health Department, and the Toscar, Carrús, Pla-Vinalopó and Doctor Sapena centers, with their auxiliary center Doctor Alberto García, from the Vinalopó Health Department, have obtained quality accreditation from the Joint Commission International.

These new certifications are added to the five obtained in 2017, when the Ribera Salud group obtained certification for the health centers of Carlet (Alzira), Crevillent (Elche) and San Luis (Torrevieja), as well as for the Vinalopó University Hospitals and Torrevieja. So far, in the Valencian Community, these are the first public centers that have obtained this accreditation. All of them are managed by the Ribera Salud group under the formula of public-private collaboration.

With more than 50 years of dedication to improving the quality and safety of healthcare and social healthcare organizations, the Joint Commission International (JCI) is today the organization with the most experience in healthcare accreditation worldwide. The JCI accreditation is a model that guarantees the quality of attention to the person throughout the entire process and always reaches the whole of an organization.

According to Paqui Puerta, Assistant to the Directorate of Primary Care Nursing of the Health Departments of Vinalopó and Torrevieja, “To achieve this important accreditation, we have made all the tools available to the organization available to professionals, in order to facilitate compliance with the most demanding quality standards and patient safety goals. At times like these, the human quality of each of our professionals is revealed, their involvement, commitment and the excellence with which they serve our citizens”.

As a result of this work, the basic areas of Toscar, Carrús, Pla-Vinalopó and Dr. Sapena, as well as the Patricio Pérez health center, have approved this rigorous audit in which more than 800 indicators related to international health objectives have been evaluated. patient safety; accessibility and continuity of care; assessment; care and education of the patient and her family; facility management and security; Prevencion and control of infections; rights of the patient and her family and participation and integration in the Community.

It should be noted, in this sense, that the Patricio Pérez health center and the basic areas of Toscar, PlaVinalopó, Carrús and Dr. Sapena have obtained, in this audit, a grade higher than 9 of the total standards evaluated, some of them as important for the quality of care as the correct identification of patients, the effectiveness of the communication of the professionals, the safety of high-risk medication, the reduction of the risk of infections associated with health care and the reduction of the risk of injuries in patients caused by falls.

For the Director of Innovation and Quality of Ribera Salud, Manuel Bosch, “submitting to the strict standards of the Joint Commission International is a great challenge and a great learning opportunity, but especially it reflects the culture of continuous improvement that exists in our organization, and that has made us one of the healthcare groups in Spain with more services and processes with quality certifications”.

Joint Commission International accreditation is valid for three years, during which JCI continues to ensure that quality standards continue to be met in accredited health centers.
