Dr. Julia Camps, corporate head of the Breast Area in the Ribera group hospitals and member of GEICAM, has highlighted the importance of population screening in reducing the risk of breast cancer. This is classified as high if it is greater than 20% throughout life, intermediate if it is between 15 and 20%, and low if it is less than 15%. People at high risk, such as mutation carriers or a history of mediastinal radiation therapy for lymphoma, should have an annual MRI in addition to a mammogram. Some of the leading researchers and specialists in the prevention and treatment of breast cancer have participated in the 15th International Symposium of the GEICAM Breast Cancer Research group, held between March 22 and 24 in Seville.
