El Cascais Hospital, the first hospital managed by the healthcare group Ribera In Portugal, he has been awarded the Global Brand Award 2026Awarded by the international magazine Global Brands Magazine, this recognition positions this healthcare center as a global benchmark in healthcare excellence and in the management of public-private collaboration models in healthcare.
This is the only Portuguese hospital awarded in this edition and the only one internationally whose candidacy has been evaluated with a global scope, which reinforces the strategic nature of this collaboration model, as a response to the current challenges of health systems.
The independent jury assessed key indicators for awarding this prize, such as quality of care, clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and organizational and technological innovation, as well as the positive evolution of these parameters over time. Among the hospitals awarded in other categories in this round, the following stand out: Mayo Clinic (USA), Cleveland Clinic (USA), Johns Hopkins hospital (USA), Karolinska University Hospital (Sweden) or Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany).
A model that adds value to the healthcare system
Cascais Hospital operates under a public-private partnership model in Portugal, with some differences compared to the models currently used in Spain, and has proven its ability to provide high-quality, efficient, and sustainable healthcare. Its approach, based on cooperation between public administrations and specialized operators such as the Ribera Group, has become a key tool in Portugal for responding to the growing demand for healthcare, the aging population, and the pressure these and other factors place on healthcare resources.
In this regard, José Bento, director of the Ribera group in Portugal, emphasized that “this international recognition highlights a model that demonstrates that collaboration between the public and private sectors is not only possible, but necessary to guarantee the sustainability of the healthcare system and continue offering the highest quality care to citizens.” Bento also stressed that “the experience of the Cascais Hospital shows that when objectives are aligned and the patient is placed at the center, better clinical outcomes, greater efficiency in care, and more effective resource management are achieved.”

For his part, Ribera's CEO, Pablo Gallart, stressed the importance of moving towards a "single healthcare" model, in line with the main organizations in the healthcare sector, in which all available resources—public and private—work in a coordinated manner to improve accessibility, reduce waiting lists and optimize patient care.
