Recently, a team of Bayern he went to Torrejón University Hospital, managed by the Ribera group, to train for two days in breast radiology processes together with our professionals. During these days, in addition to attending different training sessions, they recorded three videos with doctors Julia Camps, corporate head of the group's Breast Area, and with Guadalupe Hernández and Cristina Cristos, both radiologists specializing in breast pathologies at the Hospital of Torrejon. In this video, Dr. Hernández assures that contrast-enhanced mammography is a technique "that many radiologists have yet to discover, but it is here to stay." “It allows us to make a dynamic and at the same time more agile and simple approach for the patient with certain lesions”, she adds. Among the advantages of this technique is the fact that it allows women who cannot enter an MRI to be controlled. “There are patients who have an MRI due to claustrophobia or physical problems, but this contrast-enhanced mammogram allows them to have a functional idea of their lesions,” she says.
For Dr. Hernández, working in multidisciplinary teams such as the one in the Breast Area of the Ribera group "allows us to have different perspectives on the management of each patient." "Usually, each specialty focuses on its own and having other points of view, from each of the actors, makes you plan the imaging tests globally, and these are more operative and profitable for patient management," explains she.
She insists on the importance of regular check-ups for women. “It is very important to detect these lesions as soon as possible, with the smallest size and with the smallest extension, because that will allow a more conservative treatment and increase the quality and life expectancy of the patients”, she assures.
