- She highlights the importance of recognitions like this to make female talent visible and generate role models that inspire other women.
The CEO of the health group Ribera, Elisa Tarazona, received the Sanitarias 2025 Award yesterday, at an event organized by the digital headerMedical Writing and which, after eight editions, has established itself as a benchmark in the recognition of the role, leadership and talent of women in the healthcare sector.
In addition to being the director of the Ribera group, Elisa Tarazona holds a PhD in Medicine from the University of Valencia and is a specialist in Family and Community Medicine. She has a Master's degree in Home Hospitalisation from the Valencian School of Health Studies (EVES), a Senior Management in Healthcare Institutions programme from IESE, a diploma in Healthcare Services Management from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and a Master's degree in Senior Healthcare Management from BearingPoint and a Program for Management Development-PMD from Esade. Her career in the sector has included different stages, from the position of Primary Care Director at the La Fe Health Department in Valencia; Deputy Director of Management of the La Ribera Health Department in Alzira, where she developed the model for integrating care between Primary and Specialised Care; and Director of Operations for the group, before being appointed CEO.
Dr Tarazona expressed her gratitude for the recognition both on a personal level and for what it means, as she pointed out at the event, “to highlight the effort, dedication and talent of so many women who contribute every day to the proper functioning of our health system”. She also pointed out the importance of “making female leadership visible, as the Sanitarias Awards do, and also generating role models that inspire other women to aspire to positions of responsibility and profiles traditionally occupied by men”. “Only in this way can we continue to make progress in reducing the gender gap and creating a more inclusive and fair work environment”, she concluded.
Some of the women who have received this recognition in previous editions of the Sanitarias Awards are, among others, the researchers Margarita Salas and Margarita del Val; the former world president of pharmacists Carmen Peña; the director of the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products, María Jesús Lamas; or the former Ministers of Health Ana Pastor and María Luisa Carcedo.
