The European Private Hospital Awards 2025 They have acknowledged the initiative of the healthcare group. Ribera for remote patient monitoring with the virtual assistant Lola as one of the three best proposals in European private healthcare in the Excellence in Health Tech Innovation category. The University Hospital of Torrejón, managed by Ribera, won the award in its category for the application of this program to patients with heart failure, COPD, and complex chronic conditions.

These awards, organized by the European Union of Private Hospitals in collaboration with ASPE as the host employers' association, and with the support of EYThey have established themselves as the main European recognition of excellence in private hospital healthcare.

The organizers of these awards affirm that the distinction awarded to the virtual caregiver Lola “reflects Ribera’s commitment to quality care, innovation, and continuous improvement for the benefit of patients and society as a whole. Being among the finalists is already a significant achievement and international recognition of the effort and dedication of the entire team involved in the project.”

The Ribera group's program for remote patient monitoring, which includes the virtual caregiver Lola, developed in collaboration with the startup tucuviThis technology allows for the remote monitoring and management of thousands of patients with various respiratory conditions, such as COPD, as well as palliative care patients, cancer patients, and other patients, across several Ribera hospitals, including Torrejón Hospital, which has received an award for its application in patients with heart failure, COPD, and complex chronic conditions. Dr. Manuel Mirón, head of the Home Hospitalization Unit (UHD), stated that “this project demonstrates the importance of focusing technology on specific critical situations. We have worked extensively on refining the tool to serve our purpose: to properly monitor patients at home and, as far as possible, prevent their health from deteriorating and requiring hospitalization.”

According to Dr. Mirón, “this award is an important recognition for all the teams involved in the project: Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Home Hospitalization, and Nursing. It also opens up the possibility of incorporating the foundations of this tool into new clinical processes.”

Lola is a platform that, through voice technology, can make multiple calls in a short period of time, without the patient needing any advanced devices beyond a phone. This virtual caregiver collects and processes all the information provided by the patient, asking them the appropriate questions thanks to Artificial Intelligence. Protocols have been developed for the program with healthcare professionals so that, in the event of a change in the patient's vital signs or a worsening of their health, an alert is issued, prompting a healthcare professional to contact the patient immediately. This anticipates risks to the patient and increases the capacity of healthcare professionals to provide the highest quality care to more patients.

Following the European Private Hospital Awards held in Lisbon and Bucharest, Madrid was chosen for the fourth edition, which brought together nearly 300 representatives from the healthcare sector in 17 European countries.
