- With data verified by AENOR) and taking into account the Hospital Production Units, gas emissions such as carbon dioxide or methane are reduced
The health group Ribera has reduced its carbon footprint by 40% since 2020, based on emissions data per hospital production unit (uph), verified by the independent entity Aenor.
The carbon footprint is the “trail” of human activities that lead us to use fossil fuels. In doing so, we emit greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone, and their concentration, increasing since the Industrial Revolution, is directly related to the increase in the Earth's average temperature. The ONU has issued an urgent appeal this year to "keep global warming below 1,5 degrees Celsius this century, halving annual greenhouse gas emissions by 2030."
The hospitals of the Ribera group implement measures and actions every year to reduce their impact on the environment, among others, the installation of solar panels on windows, the closing of balconies, the installation of LED lighting, the readjustment of air conditioning set points , campaigns for responsible use of lighting and water, aimed at professionals and patients, such as "Turn off and let's go" and "Click me when you go out", or the weekly and monthly review of electricity, natural gas and medical gas meters for analyze consumption.
The Ribera group is committed to protecting the environment and preventing pollution, aware that this commitment favorably influences the health and well-being of citizens in the areas where it has hospitals, clinics and Primary Care centers.
