    El Ribera healthcare group has adhered to the strategy "One Health” to promote “a global vision of health throughout the world”, as explained by the group's healthcare director, Dr. Carlos Catalán. With ten hospitals and 62 Primary Care centers in Spain, more than 7.000 professionals, one million patients per year, 46 quality accreditations and 175 national and international awards, the Ribera group frames this adherence to the responsible health model on which its strategy is based. to improve the health and well-being of citizens.

    "One Health" is a global initiative that aims to increase communication and interdisciplinary collaboration in the health care of people, animals and the environment, understanding that there are many factors that influence health care. Public and the well-being of the world population. “We are living in a historic moment, with a global pandemic as a consequence of Covid, which should make us rethink the importance of addressing the health of the population from a holistic perspective”, explains Dr. Catalán.

    In fact, this initiative, promoted by the Food and Development Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organization for Animal Health (GOOSE), encourages institutions, health organizations, professional associations and universities to work collaboratively to address the challenges of population health from a comprehensive point of view, considering not only the interrelationship between the health of the population and that of animals, a key aspect after the appearance of viruses that have given rise to epidemics and this pandemic, but also all the factors that influence it.

    “Health, economic, social and cultural factors have a significant influence on the organization and planning of resources, prevention and health care for the population”, explains Dr. Catalán. “With this exchange of information, data and opinions, we must be able to find the most efficient solutions to the health challenges that this society poses to us, especially after having faced this pandemic”, he adds.

    There are many organizations in Spain, including the Ribera group, that have joined this global initiative. Among others, the General Council of Nursing of Spain, the General Council of Pharmacists, the General Council of Veterinary Colleges, the Collegiate Medical Organization of Spain, the General Council of Official Medical Colleges, the National Conference of Deans and Deans of Nursing, the National Conference of Deans of Pharmacy Faculties of Spain, the National Conference of Deans of Medical Faculties and the Conference of Deans of Veterinary Faculties of Spain.
