- The new facilities, located in the Torrellano technology park (Elche), have three plants and high-tech equipment in all areas of laboratory diagnosis: Molecular Genetics, Cytogenetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Hematology and Pathology.
- The Immunological Center carried out more than 350.000 determinations in 2020, but since its integration into the Ribera group in December, activity has increased, becoming the reference laboratory for several of its hospitals
The Immunological Center of Alicante, a reference laboratory for Ribera Lab, moves to a new headquarters in the Torrellano business park (Elche), which allows it to multiply the available square meters to progressively expand services, technology and new areas of biological diagnosis. This laboratory, with more than 25 years of experience as a reference laboratory for special tests, moves to new facilities of 2.700 square meters, which will allow it to triple its activity, in addition to incorporating new diagnostic specialties.
Ribera Lab, the laboratory division of the Ribera healthcare group, acquired the Immunological Center of Alicante last December and from that moment, it began to grow progressively, partly as a consequence of the assumption of the determinations of the hospitals of the group. This change has required, in just six months, the implementation of new equipment, which will be transferred and adapted to the Torrellano facilities, and the automation of different areas, improving response capacity. Currently, it has a staff of more than 40 professionals including laboratory technicians and specialists in genetics, hematology, microbiology and clinical analysis, among others, after expanding the staff in the first phase due to the increase in activity.
In its new headquarters, the Immunological Center will have new high-tech equipment for genetic diagnosis, where expansion and hyper-specialization are planned, to delve into the field of precision medicine.
Its molecular biopathology laboratory is specialized in hereditary and oncological pathologies and infections, its cytogenetics unit is a benchmark in the area of onco-hematology, while its central clinical laboratory performs biochemistry, flow cytometry, immunology, hematology, toxicology, pathology and microbiology.
The Immunological Center of the Valencian Community began its activity in 1996 as a clinical analysis laboratory. In 1999 it moved to the San Juan-Alicante headquarters, where it progressively expanded its portfolio of services. It has remained there until today, when after its integration into the Ribera health group, the volume of determinations, together with the projection, growth and diversification of the project, has led to a commitment to a much larger headquarters, capable of housing all challenges and proposals for the future.
