- Defines care processes and circuits for breast pathologies, especially breast cancer, valid in all centers of the healthcare group, with a presence in four Spanish regions, thanks to synergies between hospitals for more complete and professional care
- Under the direction of Dr. Julia Camps, a multidisciplinary team has been set up that brings together professionals with more than 20 years of experience to give patients "personalized and excellent" care. We tell about the spirit of overcoming five of our patients in the videos of their Life stories
El Ribera healthcare group has integrated all the Breast Units of the group's hospitals into the Breast Area and, for a few months now, it has been coordinating the care and scientific activity of more than 50 specialists in breast pathology, to assess each case of breast cancer, regardless of the group hospital to which the patient belongs, from a holistic perspective.
Under the corporate management of Dr. Julia Camps, a multidisciplinary team has been set up in the university hospitals of Torrejon, Torrevieja y Vinalopo and in the Ribera Povisa Hospital, managed by Ribera, which brings together professionals with more than 20 years of experience in breast pathologies, especially breast cancer, and provides patients with a shared and transversal program, with personalized attention and the best specialists in Spain to assess each case jointly and transversally. The Breast Area is already working on the imminent incorporation of hospitals Ribera Polusa, in a first phase, and Santa Justa Bank y Ribera Almendralejo coming soon.
Together with the surgical coordinator, Dr. Lorenzo Rabadán, and the pathologist coordinator, Dr. Laia Bernet, Dr. Camps has promoted the unification of care processes and circuits, valid in all the group's centers, as well as the networking of all the professionals who approach breast pathology from their own specialty, but with uniform criteria. "A breast cancer in Vinalopó will be assessed by specialists from her hospital but also from Torrejón, Torrevieja, Vigo and Lugo", she explains. The goal is for each patient to have the best team of professionals in all areas, in addition to the specialists who will carry out permanent and personalized monitoring at the center of the group they attend.
The interhospital collaboration is, in the opinion of those responsible for the Breast Area, "an unprecedented differential value in the panorama of the comprehensive approach to breast cancer in Spain". The connection of the best specialists from each area involved in the process, regardless of their reference hospital, "confront ideas, share knowledge and clinical experience and unify approach criteria, according to the latest cutting edge of breast cancer", they assure . For Dr. Laia Bernet, it is about "providing different points of view for a single discussion, which will always result in a personalized and more complete treatment for the patient." Dr. Rabadán assures for his part that "contrasted opinions, reflections and solutions shared and valued among the different professionals guarantee the best treatment for patients, whatever the group hospital in which they are".
Dr. Camps highlights the experience, humanity, immediacy, involvement and innovation of the Ribera group's Breast Department and explains that patients have at their disposal "a rapid diagnosis with the latest radiodiagnostic techniques and the best pathological anatomy, a comprehensive approach to breast cancer, including breast reconstruction, and the emotional support that all women need in the different phases, from diagnosis to treatment and/or surgical intervention”. It is key, she assures her, "to make pathologists and radiologists and their contributions visible, because they are essential to propose the best clinical and surgical approach for each patient."
And since each story and each patient is unique, we have collected in a series of videos entitled "Life Stories" the strength, courage and spirit of improvement of our patients who, with the help of the professionals of the Ribera group and despite the pandemic, have overcome or are fighting hard against breast cancer (watch the trailer here).
